Bezos reclaimed his position as the world's richest person following a sustained rise in Big Tech stocks driven by the artificial intelligence boom. His last stint as the wealthiest individual was in 2021.

With Amazon shares up 17% year-to-date and nearly 90% higher than a year ago, Bezos, who owns about 9% of the company, benefits directly from its stock performance.

Additionally, his ownership of space exploration firm Blue Origin contributes to his net worth. Bezos, aged 60, surpassed Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who held the top spot for nine months, despite once trailing Musk by $142 billion.

Bezos initially became the world's richest person in 2017, surpassing Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.

Musk took the lead in 2021 during a surge in Tesla shares. Currently, Musk and Bernard Arnault, chairman of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, hold the second and third positions on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with net worths of $198 billion and $197 billion, respectively.
